Patricia Heal is a New York based still life photographer originally from Devon, England. After studying art and drama in her native England, Heal turned her focus to photography in the early 90’s. She continues to be inspired by the works of Andre Kertesz, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, and Sarah Moon.
Patricia’s clients include William Sonoma, Anthropologie, Neiman Marcus, Calvin Klein, Bloomingdales, WSJ, Bon Appetit, Real Simple and Martha Stewart. She has received numerous awards in the field of photography including a Fuji film award, Nikon/PDN self promotion award, Communication Arts, and an IPA International award.
As well as being a noted commercial photographer, Heal has also had a number of fine art shows at various galleries in New York, London, and Salcombe, Devon. Patricia’s most recent show in England featured the semi feral ponies of Dartmoor national park. Having grown up close to the moors, the ponies held a particular fascination for Patricia. Heal is motivated by the importance of man maintaining a sustainable and responsible approach to the land. Heal worked in conjunction with the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust whose mission is to save the indigenous ponies from extinction.
Patricia resides in New York City with her husband and fellow lensman, Anthony Cotsifas and their English Bulldog, Amos Obadiah. Life in New York revolves around the studio and restoring their old farmhouse in upstate New York and of course, Amos! Heal also enjoys cooking, entertaining and the great outdoors whether it be hiking, canoeing or kayaking anywhere in the world. Patricia discovered the zest of life behind the lens of a camera. It became her passion and her life work.
